Plato, the Greek philosopher, said:
"Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each."

It is human nature to be curious. As kids we have been curious about science and its unexplained mysteries. Reading about science, exploring the world outside, seeing a science video are ways in which children enjoy and become motivated about science. And through the years, that is what we have successfully done.

But in recent times, it has been discovered that a real and extremely valid way for kids to love science and be keen to know more is to provide them with time to play around with real science.

Reading a textbook surely gives you knowledge. You learn, you write in exams, you forget. And the cycle continues. But if the same topic is taught through a practical demonstration, it is etched in the mind. For example, A picture cant explain the working of generator. But making a practical model sets the principle and helps in better understanding.

Practical education is very important for children. A child’s  mind grabs the idea better when he performs it himself. The curious mind of a child wants the reason behind everything.  But through our current system of education with all books and no practical knowledge, the spirit to know more is crushed and it simply becomes a matter of scoring in examination. Only a curious mind has the capability to learn and apply the knowledge in a constructive way.

What we need today is practical education. The present education system kills the spirit to learn and ideate. The need of the hour is to change the current scenario to a healthier classroom learning through practical knowledge that the child enjoys. Experimenting is human nature. Let them explore the world with their own eyes.
