Any work that you undertake is about the Impact. Everything is about the Impact.
If a Meteor is about to strike the earth and would make an impact, it becomes a sensation, if not then no one remembers. It is the same in the field of excellence. If you do not make an impact, then you have achieved nothing.
So, I was really worried when Gyan Lab was being launched as a full scale product in June this year. It was our 1st attempt ever at any scale to try and make a difference in the archaic education system in India. And with the last moment efforts actually accounting for over 50% of the job, it was nail biting finish which saw us deliver Gyan Lab to 5 schools. This consignment contained a total of over 500 experiment kits which we did put together in less than a month – an achievement in it!
Currently, we are catering to over 350 students across these schools and are already aiming at around 3000 students for the next academic year. Once we delivered the experiments, we believed deeply that the real exciting part of the work was over and now we would have to monotonously run and maintain these labs.
But I was so wrong. The part after setting up the labs has been the most beautiful and has made us realize the potential Gyan Lab has in order to bring a change in the way we perceive education.
We learnt a huge, huge deal of things. A few include…
We have the ability to teach ALGEBRA to a Grade 6 ICSE student who has not even heard of it. We have the ability to teach a Grade 7 kid BANKING; we have the ability to make a Grade 9 student build a circuit of FIRE ALARM on his/her own and so many other things. Even we did not know that we would be able to do what we anticipated to do, so well. It is nothing short of a miracle. Using hands-on, practical methods in education makes learning so much comfortable and complete for kids.
When I started this company way back in January 2011, I had no clue of the paths, destinations and milestones. Today, I have no clue of the same as well but I really don’t care. All our team knows today is that we have to make a positive dent in the present system in the most accurate manner.
The encouraging response from the kids has made us dig deeper (more research and development) into the well of resources and we have so far dug up 400 hours of hands-on practical curriculum for them and would very soon offer more than 650 hours of Gyan Lab curriculum on a variety of topics such as mathematics, science, technology, pre-vocational practices, and robotics.
I am keeping my fingers crossed. But within my heart, a glowing light says we would be rocking across the world with our team’s super amazing consistent effort.
